The Eighth International Symposium on Animal Mortality Management is an in-person symposium in Stevens Point, Wisconsin on June 29 - July 2, 2026.

 

Our symposium topics include:

  • Food of animal origin containment, depopulation, disposal, and decontamination (3-D) in response to disease and emergency events;

  • Carcass management in response to routine mortalities, accidental deaths, natural disasters, and disease outbreaks;

  • Wildlife carcass management from disease events, accidents, natural and man-made disasters, and beaching;

  • New and emerging technologies for euthanasia, carcass treatment, and disinfection;

  • Research to inform public policy on carcass disposal and the direction of future research and resource;

  • Federal and state agency response and training experience;

  • Carcass treatment (management) options;

  • Health and biosecurity risk;

  • Final product use, disposition, and ultimate disposal;

  • Agricultural Systems Management of multifaceted aspects of carcass transport, processing, disposition, and resultant feedbacks;

  • International Issues: religious and societal considerations, regulatory constraints, health education programs, cross-border movement controls, acceptability of depopulation methods;

  • Health and Environmental risks related to disposal;

  • Food production systems and contaminated protein; and

  • Regulatory trends in disposal.
